Mount Dora is known for its antique shops and annual festivals.

We love it for it’s:

  • Food (wait until you SEE what we tried below)
  • Culture (Its a great Art scene)
  • Nature (right by Lake Dora and parks like Palm Island Park)

Places To Eat/Drink

WAVE – Asian Bistro & Sushi

We had a custom order of Kani Spaghetti – Show them our video if you want them to re-create it! It had “tuna” meatballs and they charged us around $28 for it!

The BEST thing we ate was the Ichiban Roll (spicy salmon, cucumber and tempura flakes inside, topped with slices of Avocado, tobiko white sauce and eel sauce) Still drooling over this.

We had a Poke Sushi Taco which was fresh, but honestly it didn’t compare to their normal roll.

Allyson A Bake Shop

Grab a coffee and a pastry!
We had the cookie sandwich and thats something you need to grab!

1921 Mount Dora

Go for Happy Hour on the weekends: Saturday and Sunday from 2-6:30 pm.

Super unique offerings like Blue Cornmeal Corn dog, the Wood Over roasted Oyster with candied bacon butter, and the Pimento Cheese with toasted ritz crackers and house pickles.

Back Porch Pizza

Amazing pizza in Florida. coming from a Northeast girl.

We had the Dora Rita and added hot honey (which we carry around with us everywhere hahahaha)

The Nest @ Papilio

Speakeasy vibe – Plant and Gift shop during the day and cute wine/beer bar at night!

Say hi to the birds in the back, check out the plants, and make some new friends. You can grab drinks and walk the streets of Mount Dora (open container policy!)

Fifth Avenue Streatery

We ate here on our way out! Old gas station turned restaurant. Great for a quick bite. GET THE POTATO SALAD!

Get Outside after at the Lighthouse and Palm Island Park!

Palm Island Park

.7 mile loop around beautiful Lake Dora. Paved and boardwalk trail with sandy areas if you would rather walk primitive style.

Stop on the boardwalk to watch for birds, turtles, and alligators.

Boardwalk is dog friendly and 1/3 mile long! Be careful the dogs may slip like Harvey did if they’re not used to it.

Grantham Pointe Lighthouse

Cute spot to bring your lunch or read a book on the hammock!

Extra Tips:

Grab a spot to park near the Mount Dora Yacht Club. Parking is free and everything is in walking distance!

We sold everything in 2020 and started traveling full time! Now we document our life on the road with our two dogs and mix in a sense of humor.
